”Nicolae Testemitanu” University – triple champion in armwrestling among universities of Moldova

”Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy became the arm-wrestling champion of the year among higher education institutions of the Republic of Moldova for the third time. The title was obtained on November 8, 2025, at the National University Arm wrestling Championship hosted by the Nicolae Testemitanu University Sports Complex, under the aegis of the Moldavian Student and Veterans Sports Federation in partnership with the National Armwrestling Sports Federation.
In total, 50 athletes lined up at the start, representing 5 universities of the country.
The armwrestling team of Nicolae Testemitanu University achieved 1st place in the team ranking, accumulating the highest score. The Nicolae Testemitanu University club's squad consisted of 16 athletes: the best results being obtained by:
Aurel Sirbu, first-year student at Faculty of Medicine no. 1, senior under 65 kg category – 1st place left arm and 2nd place right arm;
Liviu Ceban, second-year resident physician in the Orthopedics and Traumatology specialty, senior category under 65 kg – 3rd place left arm;
Alexandru Zlati, first-year student at Faculty of Medicine No. 1, senior category under 65 kg – 3rd place right arm;
David Davtean, 5th year student at Faculty of Medicine No. 1, senior category under 95 kg – 1st place left arm and 2nd place right arm;
Shajahan Rashif, 4th year student at Faculty of Medicine No. 1, senior category plus 95 kg – 1st place left arm and right arm;
Victor Antir, 5th year student at Faculty of Medicine No. 1, senior category plus 95 kg – 2nd place left arm and 3rd place right arm;
Acsanta Reny, second-year student at Faculty of Medicine no. 2, senior category under 65 kg – 1st place left arm and right arm;
Nicoleta Bodrug, second-year resident physician in the Epidemiology specialty, senior category plus 65 kg – 1st place right arm;
Faiha Musthafa Karipp, 4th year student at Faculty of Medicine No. 2, senior category plus 65 kg – 2nd place right arm.
The other teammates also contributed to achieving these results – students Victor Nita, Ivan Pisov, Nicolae Creciun, Ilie Sarabuna, Ciprian Cempoes, Ion Negura, Manohar Megha, Ziya Fezin, Mariyam Roy Ruth and Ganga Sreelatha.
The coach of the Armwrestling Sports Section, Nicoleta Bodrug, Assistant Professor at the Department of Physical Training, multiple national champion and holder of the title of master of sports in armwrestling, as well as at the international level (medalist at the European Championships in this sports event and referee with international senior rank), thanked the students for their participation, discipline and dignified attitude with which they represented Nicolae Testemitanu University at the republican level. "We appreciate you for the effort you put into the preparation, the team spirit and the determination to take your achievements further," said the coach.
In the team ranking, the Technical University of Moldova ranked second, and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova ranked third.
